I thank you for all you are doing in a difficult time. You have made such a difference to my daughter. So important for our children to talk at the moment. Our children are suffering inside just as much if not more than us adults but don't know how to tell us. Well done! https://t.co/VXsbXEMvyl

Got the balance right with the students in Live lessons, broken up by a period of no screen time to chat and hydrate, lunch time to refuel and a period at the end to discuss the day and clean down our areas. How quickly a routine can be embedded!

Later than normal as did not wake up until 9.00, mentally tired! But nothing like the Saturday morning Parker house disco to get me going. A great workout with the 'Cha Cha Slide' (I'll spare you the video :) ) This is the best part of my week! https://t.co/NFvcQI9d6s

Students are growing by the day. Live lessons; focused, interacting and time made for more chat on diversity, able to talk two other languages, being a twin, having dyslexia and the yearn to travel to see the Statue of Liberty and pyramids of Giza

Another good day with keyworkers with core subject covered together with a discussion on diversity. Shared their interests from golf to the Isle of Man TT and their coping strategies from walking, taking in surroundings to listening to The Beatles

Oh it's Saturday, so Parker disco time. This week is more like a service with a mixture of Christmas carols and songs. A good old bellow, good for the lungs and heart. Each one that comes on is my favourite. Feel free to join in!

Just a few more to wait for, judging Tuesday. Out of all the memories I have made this beats them all. Purely because this shows that students work along side staff and strive to succeed despite all the hurdles that we have had to get over. https://t.co/ZlBWOwY39S

Ian Beckett – Chair of Governors

I am the new Chair of Governors at Mark Hall Academy, starting in Summer 2019. My varied experience has given me the experience of ‘giving back’ to the community that I live in. I am committed to ensuring that young people have the best access to life opportunities and look forward to working closely with the academy to ensure that our young people are able to access their potential.

Born in Harlow 56 years ago, I was an elected member of Harlow Council from 2011 until September 2018. I served as Chair of the Council (2014/15), as well as being the town’s Mental Health Champion and the Chair of Harlow’s Health & Wellbeing Board.

I have served as part of the Volunteer Chaplaincy Team at Princess Alexandra Hospital, am Chair of the Heart 4 Harlow Civic Group and am on the PCC of St Stephen’s Church in Bush Fair, Harlow.

I have worked in Theatre in Education in the 1980’s & 1990’s and as a Lifelong Learning Project Worker in the Rail Industry for 6 years.

Kerry Vidler – Vice Chair

I have been Vice Governor of Mark Hall Academy since September 2019 and have also been appointed Governor of Quality of Education. I take my roles very serious as I’m passionate about the quality of education and the safeguarding of the students and staff.

I have lived in Harlow all my life and was also a student at Mark Hall. I currently run my own business as a Travel Counsellor and have done so for 5 years, but have worked in the Travel industry over 20 years. With my knowledge and experience I want to offer my business experience to the Academy – which may mean that I can help organise their trips in the future.

I enjoy working alongside with our PTA as this is where I can bring my experience to help them raise money for the Academy.

I trust my experience, enthusiasm and commitment to education and learning will help all our students and staff succeed whilst making a positive contribution to our local community.

I have been fortunate so far to work with great staff, students, parents, the PTA and fellow Governors and aim to develop and improve opportunities and experiences for us all to achieve our potential goals and aspirations.

Dani Lang – Community Governor, Finance Link Governor

I am a new governor of Mark Hall Academy starting in summer 2019. I currently work as a Headteacher in an Enfield Primary School. I have worked in education for 20 years. I hope to use my knowledge, skills and educational experience to support Mark Hall Academy and ATT Trust in our pursuit of continued improvement. I am passionate about helping young people achieve their potential through education and ensuring youngsters have the best opportunities to succeed whilst growing into responsible and caring individuals.

Through the role I hope to help the school continue to provide excellence in Education and help to build relationships between the parents and the School.

I trust my experience, enthusiasm and commitment to education and learning will help all our children and staff succeed whilst also making a positive contribution to our local community.

David Martin – Community Governor / Health & Safety Link

I had previously served as a Governor at Mark Hall Academy working with current leadership team. I have been fortunate enough to work with fantastic staff, students and fellow Governors in support of our children. Since the re-implementation of the Local Governing Body, I have been fortunate enough to be invited back with the aim to continue development opportunities within the academy for the staff and your children and provide a safe working environment for all.

I have been a serving Essex Police Officer since 1992, working locally in and around the Harlow area, so I have a wide knowledge of some of the issues facing your leadership team at Mark Hall Academy. My aim is to make you as parents, the staff and the pupils proud of who they are, what they can achieve, help them be the best that they can be, through positivity, experience and enthusiasm. Previously I have given career development talks and shared my personal experiences competing in long distance sporting events, about the power of positivity.

I am a firm believer that ‘Anything is Possible’
