Our photographer today seems very interested in different land uses in town centres and the urban rural fringe, and the impact it has on the environment. pic.twitter.com/1QnYG1nQKg

Not as lucky today with the weather as we were back in mid-November, when the Year 11 Geographers went to Walton, but still some nice scenery. pic.twitter.com/sKgxjrfQHN

Year 11 celebrated at Mark Hall Academy

Posted: 9th June 2021

Students celebrated the end of their time at secondary school with a day to remember.

Year 11 students at Mark Hall Academy were treated to a special day to bring their schooling to an end.

They walked the red carpet on arrival at breakfast, where they got to listen to music and spend time with their friends.

In the school’s sensory garden, students designed and decorated pebbles to leave behind in their legacy.

They were then clapped in to a final formal assembly, where they reminisced about their time at the school by watching video footage of them from Year 7.

Head of year Chris Kemp told students they had been a pleasure to have as his year group and that they had grown into “wonderful young people”.

Entertainment was put on by the school rock band and a group of teachers who donned masks to perform I Want it That Way by the Backstreet Boys as a nod to popular TV show The Masked Singer.

The day was brought to a close with a BBQ and ice cream, plus games such as Play Your Cards Right, as students signed each other’s shirts.

Principal Manjit Hazle told the leavers: “I remember you arriving with uniform that was far too big and with nervous looks on your faces. You leave us now as confident people that we are proud of.”

Student Lauren Luddington said: “It has been a great day. One I’ll not forget.”
