Our photographer today seems very interested in different land uses in town centres and the urban rural fringe, and the impact it has on the environment. pic.twitter.com/1QnYG1nQKg

Not as lucky today with the weather as we were back in mid-November, when the Year 11 Geographers went to Walton, but still some nice scenery. pic.twitter.com/sKgxjrfQHN

Students and teachers team up for bake-off

Posted: 16th December 2022

Keen young bakers got an opportunity to develop their passion.

Students were invited to take part in a bake-off event at Mark Hall Academy.

The 75 students paired up with teachers to create seasonal bakes to become the Butlers Bake Off Champion 2022.

Assistant principal Victoria Butler set the challenge and said: “The event was to give our children an opportunity to develop their love of cooking and baking while incorporating the feel-good festivities of Christmas.

“The event brought with it an absolute explosion of beautiful baked goods, festive treats and Christmas creations. The atmosphere in the ‘bake-off tent’ was truly electric and brought with it a truly palpable togetherness.

“Entries included Father Christmas falling down a chimney, a gingerbread house that would make even Nadiya Hussain stop in her tracks, a festive pizza, a marshmallow towering Christmas tree, and a larger-than-life Rudolph.

“Students have developed teamwork and a huge sense of camaraderie by taking part.”

The activity proved so popular, it had to be held across three days.
